Who you are dealing with
Card Game Classics is operated by Hamilton Digital Media Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15608219, whose registered office is at 13a Mill Lane, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 1LN, United Kingdom. Where these terms say "we" or "us", that is who is meant. Where they say "you", that is whoever is using the site.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site — there is nothing to cancel and no account to close, so simply closing the tab is enough.
Using the site
You may use Card Game Classics for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment, free of charge, for as long as it exists. You do not need an account and we do not offer one. There is nothing to pay, nothing to subscribe to, and no premium tier being held back from you.
We may change, add, or remove games and pages at any time, and we may take the whole site down. None of it is promised to be here tomorrow. In practice we intend to keep it running and growing, but a free site cannot sensibly guarantee its own permanence.
Who owns what
This is the part worth reading properly, because card games are unusual and most sites get the emphasis wrong.
So: you are welcome to learn Euchre here and go and play it. You are not welcome to copy our article about Euchre onto your own site. If you want to quote a passage with a link back, that is fine and you do not need to ask.
What you may not do
Nothing surprising, and all of it is the kind of thing that would spoil the site for other people:
- Copy, republish or resell substantial parts of the site's text, code or artwork, whether by hand or by automated means.
- Scrape or crawl the site in a way that puts a meaningful load on it, or use automated tools to hammer it.
- Attempt to break, probe or interfere with the site, or with anyone else's use of it.
- Present the site, or any part of it, as your own work or as endorsed by you.
- Remove or obscure any notice of ownership or authorship.
The rules come with no guarantee
We take the accuracy of the rules seriously — there is a whole page on how the games are made and tested — but seriously is not the same as infallibly. Card games genuinely vary from household to household, our version of a game is one documented standard form among several, and we will occasionally simply be wrong.
The site is therefore provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose, and we would gently suggest not settling a family argument or a wager on the strength of a web page — including this one. If you think a rule here is wrong, tell us; that is far more useful to everybody than a disclaimer.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site.
Advertising and other people's services
The site is free, and will be funded by advertising through Google AdSense once it is approved to serve here; we also use Google Analytics to understand which games get played. Those are third-party services with their own terms and their own handling of data; what they collect and how you can control it is set out in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
We do not control the content of the ads that appear. If you see one that is inappropriate, we would like to know, because we can block it.
Where we link out to other sites — a rules reference, the publisher's own site — those are not under our control and we are not responsible for them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top says when they last changed in substance. If a change is significant we will say so on this page rather than quietly editing it.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your own country's law.
